From Class to Career: Mentorship, Business & Real-World Practice for LMT’s

  • Albuquerque School of Healing Arts 4600 Copper Avenue Northeast Albuquerque, NM, 87108 United States (map)

From Class to Career is a 2-hour, in-person mentorship and professional development experience for massage therapists at every stage of their career—from students preparing to graduate to experienced LMTs seeking clarity, perspective, and renewed direction.

This interactive session is not a technique-based class or formal lecture. Instead, it offers a structured, experience-driven conversation grounded in real-world massage practice, drawing from over 25 years of clinical work, resort spa experience, business ownership, and massage education.

Participants are invited into an open, supportive dialogue exploring the realities of massage therapy as both a profession and a business.

Topics We’ll Explore:

  • Transitioning from massage school into real-world practice

  • Early-career challenges and how they evolve over time

  • The business of massage: what we thought it would be, what it actually is, and what we want it to become

  • Career sustainability, physical longevity, and burnout prevention

  • Professional boundaries, communication, and workplace dynamics

  • Evolving career paths and redefining success

  • Open mentorship Q&A — no topic is off limits

This session is intentionally responsive to the room. Attendees are encouraged to bring real questions, current challenges, and lived experience. Experienced massage therapists are welcome to use this time as an opportunity for a fresh perspective and a second set of expert eyes on their practice, career direction, or business decisions.

Who Should Attend:

  • Massage therapy students

  • Alumni and career massage therapists

  • Experienced LMTs seeking mentorship or professional recalibration

  • Faculty and massage educators

  • Local massage professionals interested in career longevity and growth

Held prior to continuing education courses, this session also provides an opportunity to connect with Lisa, her teaching style and approach to professional development.
