Continuing Education (CEs)

Continuing Education (CEs)

Learn what makes Continuing Education at The Keplinger Institute different than other schools.

At The Keplinger Institute, we have a multi-pronged approach to our Continuing Education programs we collectively call the KI Process™. Each of our courses falls under the following categories:

One of the biggest complaints we have heard from massage therapists over the years is they go out and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a course of study to take a deep dive into a technique only to rarely use it or to be unable to sell it to the clients they have. Our Practical Approaches™ classes are designed to teach new skills like Lymphatic Drainage, Cranial Sacral, Pregnancy Massage (and others) AND to teach the practitioner how to integrate these skills into their practice and the massages they are already offering. We don’t suggest there’s not value in an in-depth course of study if that is where your passion lies, but if you want to learn what is effective and useful the MAJORITY of the time for most clients, typically taught over only a couple of days, then our Practical Approaches™ classes are for you!

When therapists attend an entry-level massage school they typically learn what they need to pass the MBLEX, a solid massage routine, and hopefully develop the stamina to perform three to eight massages a day. At least that’s what most massage programs are today. What is often lost in this approach is nuance and targeting techniques. Enter our Keystone Principles™ anatomically focussed deep-dives into techniques and methodologies to train you to get to the root of your client’s needs. Whether the course is focusing on the Back, Arms, Face/Neck, or other specific body parts our Keystone Principles™ will give you new and specific tools for your toolbelt as well as showing you how to apply them, when, and why.

Whether you are new to private practice or a veteran of the treatment room, one thing is certain: your massage skills are only about 45% of customer satisfaction in your massage. It’s not enough to be the best, you also have to know how to market, fill out SOAPs correctly, how to sell, discuss options with clients, how to promote, how to manage staff, price your services, display your offerings, build treatment plans, ask for referrals, handle online reviews (good and bad), and everything else that goes with NOT being in the treatment room. Sure, most entry-level massage programs have a business component, but rarely do they have time to get into all the nitty-gritty, and even if they do technologies and laws change, we’re here to help you learn how to work outside of the treatment room as well as within.

The following courses are NCBTMB-certified CE classes currently being taught through KI and are available both in our classroom at The Keplinger Insititute and in our traveling programs. They are also available for customization (please email Lisa@KeplingerInstitute.com for information about creating a custom course for your team). As more classes are developed and certified they will be posted here, so please check back. Also, if you are interested in requesting a specific class that you don’t see listed, please ask as we likely have one already in development (we have many in development).

The following classes are 10-hour courses, held over two days, and incorporate the techniques, as well as HOW to incorporate them into your massage or as a standalone service, body mechanics, and form correction so you can learn how to feel when you aren’t using proper body mechanics and self-care during and after each massage.
